Photos of Our Boy (20 Week Ultrasound)

Thank you for all the congratulatory comments on my last post describing our 20 week scan and the gender reveal! I finally got a chance to check the through all the 117 images from the disk today and grabbed a handful to post here on my blog. The first one makes me laugh, and will probably horrify our son if he ever found out in years to come..... it's the obvious proof that our baby is a BOY! You can see the proof to the left of where XY has been written on this first image >>
Proof of gender! It's definitely a boy!!
The below image is probably my favourite from this scan. He's totally curled up! In yoga, we call this "the plough." It looks as though, he's trying to do a backward roll!

That's our boy!

Last night Chop and I jumped on a few 'baby name' websites to have our first look at boys names. We already had a boys name chosen (since before we got pregnant), but now that we officially know the gender we want to explore more options just to make sure we are making the right choice. It's a HUGE responsibility naming a child! We don't want to set our child up for future heartache about the spelling, meaning, or choice of name. The search began as a very painful ordeal. There are so many crap websites out there! So many of them are heavily ad driven and annoying to operate. We eventually found one that was relatively okay, so I started at letter 'A' and began reading out loud all the names on the list (through to Z). It took about an hour, and on occasion we were both crying with laughter at the prospect of naming a baby a certain name! The one that made us laugh the most was "Norman". For some reason this name just seems sooooo absurd to name a child born in 2013!! Anyway, no offence to anyone who knows a Norman, that name is just not going to be on our child's birth certificate. In the end we realised how difficult this task is, as we didn't really like any of the names. At least we have plenty of time to figure this out!

I hope you're getting ready for a great weekend. I can't wait to hear about Beta #4 for my lovely blogger friend, Toni (at Who is this "Fertile Myrtle"?), who has had such a long and difficult infertility road... but this IUI attempt is looking so promising!

Happy Friday everyone!

  1. Baby naming is HARD WORK! I hear you.

Loving the baby pics. :) My favourite one of our girl is when she has her foot up in her face. Hilarious!

  2. So cute! =)

This was actually a cancelled Femara cycle with no monitoring for Toni!

  3. I love the pictures Ali! I also love the fact that you are thinking about a name that your son has to live with for the rest of his life. Can't wait to hear what you decide on.

Thanks for the shout out and you will laugh to hear this was almost a natural cycle. We started Femara and I didn't take it all five days. Then I had a tooth extracted was on pain medications and to my surprise saw the two lines!!

  4. Awesome pictures - thanks for sharing. What a cutie! Picking a name seems so fun, and you guys seem to be putting care into it too. Happy Friday to you!! :-)

  5. Congratulations on your little boy. Good luck on the naming. Me and my hubby are probably not going to be set on a name until delivery mainly because he has to see him to decide, but we do have a list of 16 to choose from and trust me that is the short list.

  6. Yesterday I also got my wife's ultrasound report. She is 22+ weeks pregnant. This report also shows XY. When my wife asked him about to know it boy or girl? Dr. Says, take some sweet and go home. Nothing more then that. Please anyone can say me,"what is the meaning of XY of ultrasound report"?.

  7. Ultrasound report XY is definitely boy! My son is now 8 months old. Pradip
