THE BUMPDATE
Baby Development: The baby continues to put on fat. He now weighs about 760g and measures around 36cm from head to heel, as long as a large zucchini. All my bump pics can be found here.Total weight gain: Still weighing 64kg. Total weight gain so far is 10.5kg. I don't seem to have put on any weight for a couple of weeks (according to my crappy bathroom scales), which is strange considering that my belly has puffed out so much more.
Gender: It's a BOY!
Movement: He's still very active. It feels weird when he kicks up under my right ribs. So far he hasn't bumped into my left ribs. I love watching my belly bounce as he punches or kicks or moves around. I'm so in love already!
Maternity Clothes: I'm still squeezing into some pre-pregnancy items, but for the most part I have to wear maternity stuff.
Cravings: I haven't been craving anything lately... Unless you could count those moments when I fantasise about getting cookies n cream ice-cream. I have not caved in and bought it yet, just thought about it. My appetite is increasing though!
Aversions: Things that used to bother me earlier in the pregnancy (cherry tomatoes, cheese) don't phase me anymore. I'm happy to eat them.
What do I miss? Nothing.
Symptoms:
Frequent urination (still); occasional sore lower back; puffy ankles on hot days; fast growing nails/hair; a bigger appetite (I have to eat every 2-3 hours); weird dreams; still having trouble sleeping; weird sinus type issues that seem to cause my left ear to block frequently; shortness of breath; hot flushes.
Looking forward to: Going to a high tea high fashion event tomorrow with a friend who is 38 weeks pregnant. She won a prize which gets us our make-up done, and a make-up gift pack as well watching a fashion show. Hopefully she won't go into labour during the event (but at least she'll be looking very glamorous going to hospital)!
Milestones:
- Someone actually stood up and allowed me to have their seat on the train last week! I think this means that I'm starting to look like a real pregnant lady.
- Buying our first family vehicle.
- Enjoying our "baby-moon" trip to Hobart, Tasmania - the last mini-break we'll be going on before the birth.
- Reaching "double-figures" in the count-down to the due date. Only 96 days to go!
- Today I created my first Vine video (using the Vine App on my phone). I've embedded the video below. I thought I'd track the rest of the pregnancy in this little videos, that are linked to my Twitter account. The best thing about Vine is that the video is only 6 seconds long, and it's easy to cut a bunch of scenes together to tell a story. The below video is all in one sequence because I didn't want to overwhelm my non-technically-minded husband out with the first video!
Most annoying thing: My left ear keeps blocking up, and there seems to be a lot of congestion at the back of my throat when this happens. I'm blaming this on pregnancy sinus problems. It's so annoying listening to myself breathe! And if I talk when my ear is blocked, it sounds like I've got a cold. Then it clears up. Weird.
Thoughts: I've had a few little fears popping into my head lately, especially after seeing that I've reaching double-digits in the count-down to birth. I guess I let my imagination get the better of me occasionally when I think about how this baby will be born. Not knowing if my placenta will rise up means that there's a whole new dimension to what's possible for the birth. I've come to terms with the idea of having a c-section (if my placenta hasn't risen), but the fact that the milk needs to be forced to come after this procedure kind of freaks me out. As we get closer, I'm sure I'll get more information and understand things better so I won't have these weird little fears as much.
You do have a belly, and are such a cute pregnant lady!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I had the weird ear-popping/blocking thing a few weeks back too - mostly while in the car or in shopping centres. It's gone away since, but never occurred to me that it might be a preggo thing!
ReplyDeleteWhen your ears clog up, hold your nose, close your mouth, and blow (like you're blowing out of your ears). It smarts a little, but it should clear it up faster than just waiting!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I've tried that and nothing works! I'll chat to the midwife about it next week at my appointment.
DeleteLove the short video! It tells a thousand words! :-)
ReplyDeleteYeah I thought it's a great way to tell a story. Much more dynamic than a static photo.
