THE BUMPDATE
Baby Development: The baby doesn't have much space to move around in my uterus now. He now weighs about 2.4kg (5.3 pounds) and measures around 45cm from head to heel. All my bump pics can be found here. His elbows, feet or head protrude from my stomach when he stretches and squirms about. His main job over the next few weeks is to put on weight.
Total weight gain:At my hospital check-up last Thursday my official weigh-in was 64.4kg. That's a total weight gain of 10.9kg since my pre-pregnancy weight. The Doc told me that the baby has been growing, but I've been losing weight during the pregnancy because me weight has remained the same for weeks. I haven't weighed myself this week.
Gender: It's a BOY! Still no closer to choosing a name...
Movement: He is very active. Feet or elbows suddenly punch out in all directions. The worst is when he digs into my hip bone, or my rib bones.
Cravings & Aversions: I'm still loving anything with hot chilli spices in it. That's been pretty consistent throughout the pregnancy.
What do I miss? As it's getting to the final few weeks of the pregnancy, I'm starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel (so to speak). Lots of things that I accepted as no-no's during pregnancy are soon becoming within reach again! I cannot wait to eat poached eggs again, and enjoy a full glass of Billecart-Salmon champagne (not necessarily at the same time).
Symptoms: Frequent urination (2-3 trips to the toilet during the night); a dense pressure in my uterus occasionally when I walk - it feels heavy and low; extreme fatigue in the afternoons at work; puffy ankles if sitting too long; a smaller appetite (meal sizes have been reduced as I can't fit in all the food I used to eat); Intermittently bad sleeping patterns (sometimes good, sometimes impossible); weird sinus type issues that seem to cause my left ear to block frequently; shortness of breath; hot flushes; needing to drink LOTS of water.

Energy: I haven't been walking in the mornings for about 10 days now (due to poor weather); and I'm finding that my energy levels are a lot less than ever before. Perhaps it's because I'm not exercising as much, that I'm becoming more tired during the day... I'm not sure. It's probably because my little man is taking all my energy to help him grow stronger!
Looking forward to:Most of my friends have RSVP'd to my baby shower next week (still waiting on a handful to reply). I'm soooo excited about this event. It's so weird to be in this place where I actually used to dread attending baby showers because it made me so uncomfortable and reminded me that I may never get pregnant... and now here I am. Successfully carrying a baby for 35 weeks, and getting ready for the big arrival very very soon! It's going to be party time! I'm also really looking forward to having my sister fly into Melbourne from interstate (I haven't seen her since October, when I was about 6 weeks pregnant). She's already warned me that she's going to be rubbing my belly lots!
It's also our 9 year wedding anniversary this Saturday. Chop and I are planning a nice day together, and I cannot wait! We've been so busy with chores/plans/DIY jobs, and we're giving ourselves a day to enjoy each other's company out of the house.Milestones:
Reaching 35 Weeks! Only 35 days until the due date!!!
Most annoying thing:
Having a meltdown on the weekend when things kept going wrong with my day. Hormones definitely get the better of pregnant ladies!
Thoughts: I've been getting really excited when I think about how close we are to meeting our little man. Occasionally I let my mind worry about the labour/birth, but then I quickly snap myself out of it and remind myself that it's only 1 day of my whole life. I'll be able to get through it, and I'm a lot stronger than I give myself credit for.
Each day I wonder how much longer I'll be going to work, and doing my normal routine. Will baby come early? Or will he take his time?
